M3 CP- Awareness Poster (Part 1)

For this project, I decided to work with a few different ideas for an awareness poster.  These include discrimination, social media, and global warming. 

For discrimination, I wanted to focus on the ideas of equality and love in my concepts. The first sketch (top left) showcases people of different races, religions, sex, etc. The text of the image reads "WE ARE ALL HUMAN, END DISCRIMINATION". This helps to clarify the message the image is trying to send. The second image (top right) has two hands creating a heart shape. The two hands represent people of different races coming together with love. The text in this sketch reads, "STOP HATE, END RACISM". The third image (bottom left) is an equal sign with people of different races and backgrounds inside it. Between the two lines, it includes the word "EQUALITY". The final image (bottom right) is the scales of justice. On each side, there are people of different backgrounds. The two sides of the scale are even, which means we are all equal to each other. There is text which reads, "WE ARE EQUAL" to help the viewer understand its meaning. 

Social media can have a very negative effect on people, and I wanted to represent this in an awareness poster. The first image is a person's mind being consumed by social media. I represented this with the logos of various social media platforms. Over the person's mouth is a blur to represent the censorship of social media. This poster reads, "SOCIAL MEDIA IS TAKING OVER OUR MINDS". The second image shares some similarities to the first. This one, however, has logos of the social media platforms in their eyes. We consume social media through our eyes, so I think it fits in well with the message. The censorship on their mouth is a black rectangle, which says "censorship" on it. The image reads "SOCIAL MEDIA CONSUMES AND CENSORS". The third image shows someone crying over the negative effects of social media. Around them is the logos of these platforms while listing a few of these negative effects. These include bullying, depression, anxiety, etc. The fourth image is an arm using their phone for social media. While they are browsing, there is a needle injecting them with these social media outlets. The image reads, "SOCIAL MEDIA IS AN ADDICTION", while the image shows social media can almost be like a drug to people. 

Global warming is one of the most important issues in our society. For the first image, I put the earth in a hour glass on fire. The earth is beginning to melt, and this is where the text comes in. I thought it would be fitting to include the words "IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME". While this is a play on words, it is very true to the situation. The second image has earth split in two different sections. One section is normal earth, and the other is on fire. The third image is a small iceberg melting. There are animals on the small platform, which represents their home being destroyed by the sun. The animals are polar bears and penguins, who have a natural habitat in the cold climates. The text in the sun says, "HELP COOL DOWN OUR EARTH, GO GREEN". The last image is the earth being split in two halves. The top includes pollution from factories, cars, and fire. The bottom is a green planet with electric cars, solar pannels, recycling, and windmills. The text is simple as it reads "GO GREEN".
